When consumers use monitors, especially when professionals perform image processing, the output color from the screen often deviates from the real color. As shown in the figure below, the cyan standard color gamut is the real color, but the actual color gamut displayed on the screen is the yellow color gamut. The display color gamut has shifted relative to the standard color gamut, that is, the actual colors have rotated, resulting in a color shift. The use of monitors with severe color casts not only affects the user’s viewing experience, but also interferes with the work of professional workers.

Letting the screen restore the real world is not only the voice of users, but also the goal that TCL CSOT has been striving for.

The degree of restoration of the original input color is an important criterion for measuring monitor performance and affects the final image quality presentation. A commonly used indicator to quantify the difference between the display color and the original color standard of the input content is the ΔE (Delta-E) standard formulated by the Commission Internationale de l’éclairage (CIE, International Commission on Illumination). The smaller the ΔE value, the higher the color accuracy.

However, due to different fields of use, the original color standards of different input contents are often different. For example, sRGB is a universal color standard, DCI-P3 is widely used in the digital media and gaming industries, and Adobe RGB is mostly used in art/graphic design and professional photography.

In order to meet the needs of users to restore real-world display scenes, ΔE calibration technology came into being. By adjusting the screen piece by piece, the color point of the screen is adjusted to the standard point of the required color, making the color rendering closer to the real world and bringing a high-level visual sense to users.

With the goal of restoring the real world and meeting color consistency requirements, TCL CSOT’s R&D team successfully developed ΔE color accuracy improvement technology after two years of unremitting efforts, becoming the first company in the industry to achieve color accuracy adjustment on the monitor module.

Starting from the manufacturing of LCD panels, on the basis of improving panel and backlight material, and using unique algorithm to calibrate LCD panels, TCL CSOT is using its leading color accuracy improvement technology to create high-specification modules ΔE Color accuracy.

In response to the defects and risks of high resources or poor performance in traditional algorithms, TCL CSOT proposed a new fusion algorithm – CGM IP, which successfully established the advantages of high efficiency and low cost and achieved industry-leading ΔE color accuracy.

In mass production applications, TCL CSOT has established a highly integrated image quality debugging station. Based on the one-stop adjustment of Gamma and ΔE correction, the parallel adjustment algorithm is applied, supplemented by automated software, to achieve efficient debugging, and the production efficiency is ahead of the industry.

Through design optimization and manufacturing process improvement, TCL CSOT provides ultimate quality assurance for panel OC/backlight LEDs, effectively controls module color point fluctuations, and lays a good foundation for ΔE color accuracy improvement technology.

The successful development of ΔE color accuracy improvement technology makes TCL CSOT the first company in the industry to achieve color accuracy adjustment on the MNT module side. Through in-depth cooperation with customers, the color consistency and visual experience of customer products can be greatly improved.
